Hands-On Training Launches Successful Sonography Entrepreneur  | Moore Norman Technology Center

Moore Norman Technology Center graduate Dawn Finlay Noahubi’s path to a fulfilling career in sonography wasn’t conventional. Initially working in property management and real estate, she never envisioned herself in the medical field. However, life had other plans. After struggling with infertility and undergoing multiple ultrasounds, a doctor noted her natural ability to read sonograms, planting a seed of curiosity that would eventually change her life.

Inspired by her own experiences, Dawn decided to change career paths and pursue a career as a sonographer. At age 27, she applied and was accepted to Moore Norman Technology Center’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

“In hindsight, I’m so glad I went to Moore Norman,” she reflects. “I had much more opportunity to be hands-on, which is critical in our field. You’re not going to feel confident right out of school, but their program gave us an advantage in becoming better scanners.”

As an older student and a new mother, affordability and efficiency were also key factors in her decision. Moore Norman’s 15-month sonography program provided the fast-track education she needed to enter the workforce quickly. While on student rotation at Norman Regional Hospital, she impressed her supervisors and secured a job before even graduating. She also worked at SSM Health before branching out on her own.

In 2018, Dawn partnered with a fellow Moore Norman graduate before launching her own ventures: InFocus Ultrasound and Little Peanut Ultrasound. Her businesses provide both diagnostic imaging and elective ultrasounds, with locations in Norman, Oklahoma City, and a mobile unit serving Wichita Falls, TX, and Ada, OK.

“Moore Norman gave me the knowledge, the skill set and the support to graduate and feel confident,” she says.

Dawn and her husband, who owns a contracting business, believe in the importance of learning a trade. Together, they also run Restored Life Properties, renovating homes.

“Learning a skill is necessary, and we advocate for that,” she emphasizes.

Her journey from real estate to sonography and entrepreneurship, demonstrates the power of hands-on learning and unwavering determination.  Dawn’s story is an example of how pursuing one's passion, combined with the right training, can lead to remarkable success.
