Brian Ruttman Joins MNTC as Superintendent/CEO

July marks the beginning of a new era at Moore Norman Technology Center as Brian Ruttman begins his tenure as superintendent/CEO. Ruttman succeeds Jane Bowen, who announced her retirement earlier this year.

Ruttman’s service to the Oklahoma CareerTech system began in 2003 at Metro Technology Centers in Oklahoma City. At Metro Tech, he held numerous positions including chief officer, executive officer, and associate superintendent.

While at Metro Technology Centers, Ruttman led numerous district improvement initiatives, the development of the Centers of Excellence instructional model, the campus master plan and the district’s Information Technology Steering Committee. Most recently, he led efforts to obtain an $80 million bond to fully fund implementation of the Centers of Excellence model and related campus master-plan projects.

“I have a strong desire to see CareerTech as a leader in workforce development and as a driving force behind economic growth in Oklahoma,” said Ruttman.

The opportunity to lead Moore Norman - one of the state’s premier technology centers - is a true honor, especially at a time when Oklahomans are recognizing the vital role of CareerTech in our state’s economy and quality of life.

Ruttman has also been active with economic development efforts in the greater OKC area. He is an active member of numerous chambers of commerce and serves on the executive board with the SOKC Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he is active with several community organizations, education foundations and youth sports organizations.

This month Bowen and Ruttman will work together to ensure a smooth transition into the 2019-20 school year. Bowen’s retirement is effective August 10.

Moore Norman Technology Center is one of 29 schools within the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technical Education. Serving the communities of Norman, Moore and south Oklahoma City, MNTC provides career and technical education to high school and adult students, as well as business and industry training and certification to area companies. The school was established in 1972.
