Moore Norman Technology Center Legal Office Services student Hope Davis was awarded an OK-AHEAD Scholarship for spring 2021. OK-AHEAD scholarships are awarded to students with disabilities who attend career tech, college, or university.
MNTC Legal Office Services instructor Christine Woodard said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed having Hope in my class. She is just an awesome human being. She has taught me that disability is just a word. She always puts her best effort into everything she attempts and has excelled at every turn.
“She fully commits her mind and energy into everything she does and has gone above and beyond in the Legal Office program. I have no doubt she will go very far in life. I am extremely proud of her.”
This school year Davis serves as president of her class chapter of Business Professionals of America and has been as a presenter on the OK-AHEAD student panel. She serves her community as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, delivers boxed lunches to Veterans, writes cards to healthcare workers and wraps Christmas presents for adopted families. Davis has also been a trainer for McAlister’s Deli for three years and stays busy with her 10-month-old son.
Davis was awarded the Otha Grimes Scholarship in fall of 2020 and the Sandy Kelso Scholarship through the Moore Norman Federation of Teachers. This spring she earned first-place awards in both Legal Procedures and Contemporary issues at the BPA state competitions, the BPA Stateman Torch Award, Level 1 BPA student certification and the Microsoft Word certification. She attended Oklahoma Women in Technology (OKWIT) webinars, the BPA fall leadership conference, BPA state conference and the Oklahoma National Technical Honor Society’s state conference.
