MNTC Federation of Teachers Awards Scholarships
Moore Norman Technology Center’s Federation of Teachers Union #4890 awarded three student scholarships totaling $1,050 to current MNTC students today. The students are enrolled in full-time career programs and the scholarship money may be used for tuition, books and personal needs that would otherwise hinder their ability to complete their classes.
Over the years, MNFT #4890 has given 30 scholarships worth more than $10,000 to MNTC students in-need. The 36-member MNFT #4890 union members pay for the scholarships and a scholarship committee selects the recipients.
“We believe in giving our students every opportunity for success. The MNFT LOCAL #4890 members give these scholarships in the hope of reducing obstacles our students might have in obtaining the education they seek at Moore Norman,” said MNTC HVAC/R Instructor and Vice President of MNFT LOCAL #4890 Steve Yadon.
Scholarship recipients for 2018-2019 are: Lacy St.Denis, Automation Technician; Amanda Rabon, Legal Office Services and Alicia Esparza, Personal Fitness Trainer.
MNTC instructors and counselors are members of the scholarship selection committee. They are: Yumi Davis, Jana Cline, Christa Simmons, Leslie Pfrehm and Jennifer Clements.
