Walt Morris Scholarship Established at MNTC

Walt Morris Scholarship Established at MNTC

Associates and friends of the late Walt Morris have established The Walt Morris Memorial Scholarship at Moore Norman Technology Center to honor his work and support of MNTC. The $500 scholarship is intended for graduating high school seniors and is to be used for tools, supplies or equipment needed to support a student's success in their career field.

Walter “Walt” Morris was the CEO and founder of Morris Latex Products Inc. located in Noble, OK. Walt lived in south Oklahoma City where he became a supporter of the then Oklahoma Vo-Tech system. His family said that as a businessman, he understood the value of hard work, along with learning the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.

He encouraged his two sons to attend MNTC and later his grandson completed MNTC's Computer Aided Design and Drafting program. Morris was an active advocate of the CareerTech system, of Moore Norman Technology Center and was a leader in legislative activities to support MTNC and its students.

Morris was an Oklahoma City Councilman representing south OKC, a Master Mason, a member of the Guthrie Scottish Rite, the India Shrine and he used his spare time to master his golf game. He and his wife, Bonnie, had a heart for helping. They fostered over 360 babies over a period of 25 years. His family said that more than anything, he loved his family.
