MNTC Announces December Student of the Month, Adult

MNTC Aviation Maintenance Technology student Kanyan Hodges has been selected as the Moore Norman Technology Center Foundation Student of the Month, Adult. He is recognized for his initiative, compassion, and commitment to the aviation community.

During the recent government shutdown, Kanyan learned that several local air traffic controllers in Oklahoma City had gone days without a meal. Without being asked, he organized and delivered food to them, an act his instructor says speaks volumes about his character. “Nobody told him to do it,” said MNTC AMT Instructor Christopher Jacobs. “He simply saw a need and stepped up. That level of integrity and compassion is far beyond his age.”

In the classroom, Kanyan brings that same dedication every day. He works hard, supports his classmates, maintains a positive attitude, and approaches each task with professionalism. “He consistently demonstrates the kind of maturity and leadership we want our students to carry into the aviation industry,” Jacobs added.

Focused on becoming an Aircraft on Ground (AOG) technician, Kanyan is committed to building the skills and discipline needed for a fast-paced, high-responsibility role. He plans to complete the Airframe program, earn his Airframe & Powerplant certification, and begin a career troubleshooting and repairing aircraft under tight timelines.

“Kanyan represents the kind of student who strengthens the reputation of our program and the aviation community as a whole,” Jacobs concluded.

Representatives from the MNTC Foundation, Tinker Federal Credit Union, and district administrators surprised Kanyan with the announcement during a classroom visit.
