Outstanding Students Honored as Moore Norman Technology Center Students of the Month for April

The Moore Norman Technology Center Foundation is proud to announce the April Moore Norman Technology Center Students of the Month: Bennett Betz and Karla Guevara.

Bennett Betz, an adult student in MNTC’s Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing program, has earned high praise for his dedication, leadership, and work ethic. Known for his eagerness to learn and strong sense of accountability, Bennett shows up to class every day on time and ready to work. He goes above and beyond by helping classmates after completing his own assignments and consistently seeks new challenges. Currently preparing for the State Skills Contest, he exemplifies the values that make him a role model in class and on the job.

Outside the classroom, Bennett is employed at S&S Paint and Body through the school’s OJT program, where he receives top marks from his supervisor and performs tasks without the need for supervision. Despite a demanding schedule he maintains a positive attitude and remains highly motivated. His instructor describes him as one of the best students in the past two years and a model employee with a bright future in the auto collision industry.

“[Bennett] never misses school and always shows up on time,” said his teacher Joey Skinner. “He is a model employee setting the example for others wanting to enter into the Auto Collision industry. I have no doubt he will continue to be successful in our industry and life.”

Karla Guevara, is a senior at Southmoore High School and a standout in MNTC’s Automotive Services Technology program, recognized this month for her leadership, technical skills, and academic excellence. As class secretary, she helps keep her peers organized and informed while setting a high standard for professionalism. Known for her precision with diagnostic tools and repair manuals, Karla consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and commitment to collaboration. She volunteers for nearly every hands-on project, supports classmates, and was selected to represent MNTC in the SkillsUSA Mobile Electronics Installation contest at the state level.

Having grown up working in her father’s auto repair shop in Oklahoma City, Karla plans to gain manufacturer training and EV experience at a Dodge dealership before eventually taking over the family business. She also intends to pursue an associate degree in business to prepare for shop ownership. Karla’s dedication, drive, and respect for the trade make her a valued leader in the classroom and a rising star in the automotive industry.

“Karla is the type of student that you wish your whole class was made up of,” said instructor Brian O’Leary. “Karla will be someone we call to mentor students, speak at MNTC on behalf of technicians, and will be a master at whatever she does.”

Representatives from the MNTC Foundation, Tinker Federal Credit Union, and district administrators surprised Bennett and Karla with the announcement in their classrooms.
