Moore Norman Technology Center graduate Dawn Finlay Noahubi’s path to a fulfilling career in sonography wasn’t conventional. Initially working in property management and real estate, she never envisioned herself in the medical field. However, life had other plans. After struggling with infertility and undergoing multiple ultrasounds, a doctor noted her natural ability to read sonograms, planting a seed of curiosity that would eventually change her life.
Inspired by her own experiences, Dawn decided to change career paths and pursue a career as a sonographer. At age 27, she applied and was accepted to Moore Norman Technology Center’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
“In hindsight, I’m so glad I went to Moore Norman,” she reflects. “I had much more opportunity to be hands-on, which is critical in our field. You’re not going to feel confident right out of school, but their program gave us an advantage in becoming better scanners.”
As an older student and a new mother, affordability and efficiency were also key factors in her decision. Moore Norman’s 15-month sonography program provided the fast-track education she needed to enter the workforce quickly. While on student rotation at Norman Regional Hospital, she impressed her supervisors and secured a job before even graduating. She also worked at SSM Health before branching out on her own.
In 2018, Dawn partnered with a fellow Moore Norman graduate before launching her own ventures: InFocus Ultrasound and Little Peanut Ultrasound. Her businesses provide both diagnostic imaging and elective ultrasounds, with locations in Norman, Oklahoma City, and a mobile unit serving Wichita Falls, TX, and Ada, OK.
“Moore Norman gave me the knowledge, the skill set and the support to graduate and feel confident,” she says.
Dawn and her husband, who owns a contracting business, believe in the importance of learning a trade. Together, they also run Restored Life Properties, renovating homes.
“Learning a skill is necessary, and we advocate for that,” she emphasizes.
Her journey from real estate to sonography and entrepreneurship, demonstrates the power of hands-on learning and unwavering determination. Dawn’s story is an example of how pursuing one's passion, combined with the right training, can lead to remarkable success.

The Yadon family share a passion for the same profession and an appreciation for the place that trained them. Norman residents Steve Yadon and his sons, Josh and Seth, all pursued jobs in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning after graduating from Moore Norman Technology Center.
Josh and Seth now work for the HVAC team at the University of Oklahoma, while Steve Yadon serves as the director of construction trades at the technology center.
All three credit the technology center for offering opportunities and equipping them for the career field.
Steve Yadon said students, like his sons, who are interested in trade careers — such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry and cosmetology jobs — can learn about the variety of jobs available in those fields and gain the knowledge and training they need at the center to be job ready. The center offers programs for adults and high school juniors and seniors.
The trades field also is ever-growing and in need of more people to fill positions. “There’s a lot of opportunities when they leave here,” Steve Yadon said.
Yadon said he’s honored that his sons chose a similar career to his and he’s thrilled to see them find jobs that are rewarding to them. “That’s exciting to see them really take off.”
The brothers said the HVAC field offers competitive wages, opportunities for continued education and advancement and job fulfillment.
Seth Yadon, 20, works on heating, cooling and refrigeration systems at OU. He enjoys the crew he works with, the variety of projects that come their way and to see “the satisfaction of helping people,” he said.
Seth Yadon said he was interested in the HVAC field after watching his dad, grandfather and uncles work in the trades. He chose to enroll at the technology center and said “it was an awesome decision.”
Seth Yadon said the center was “a great environment to learn” and a place that continually focuses on the future and ways to equip students for the trades fields.
Josh Yadon, 23, works in building automation at OU, which includes programming building functions and monitoring and controlling heating, cooling, ventilation and related equipment.
The job offers him the chance to do hands-on work and engage his mind when faced with a variety of projects, he said.
“Every day, I’m learning something new,” he said. “I leave work every day feeling accomplished.”
Josh Yadon said his interest in the career also grew from watching his family and his interest in hands-on jobs and mechanical problem solving. He also enjoyed attending the technology center and was impressed with the curriculum, instruction and training.
“They’re very invested in helping make you job ready.”
Josh and Seth Yadon said they enjoy getting to work with each other and talking with their dad about job projects.
“It’s pretty cool to have people that speak your language,” Josh Yadon said.
The brothers and their father said they are grateful for the technology center and the training, insight and support that continue to benefit them in their profession.
Steve Yadon said his decision to attend the technology center in the HVAC program has been “life changing for me.” After graduation, he worked in the field, then became an instructor and is now an administrator.
Yadon believes the center has positively impacted he and his sons, and other graduates who have found jobs they love thanks to the training and experiences they received at the center.
“We’re in the business of better tomorrows and changing lives,” he said.

National School Counseling Week 2025, “School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 3–7, 2025, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
The special week honoring school counselors provides recognition for school counselors who “implement comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century,” according to Stephanie Simon, Executive Director, Instructional Support.
Stephanie Simon acknowledges school counselors for being actively engaged in supporting student progress, career interests and talents; for working in a partnership with instructors as they encounter the challenges of preparing students in today’s workplace; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career and social/emotional development; and working with other faculty and staff to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of the total educational program.
“School counselors work with all students to remove barriers to learning by addressing students’ academic concerns, career options and social/emotional skills,” said Jill Cook, ASCA executive director. “School counseling programs help to increase student achievement and provide a much-needed resource for students, parents, instructors and administrators. School counselors are integral to student success.”
More than 100,000 school counselors nationwide will be participating in the week’s festivities. Many schools will be hosting special events and activities to call attention to the countless benefits of a comprehensive school counseling program.
As part of its celebration for National School Counseling Week, Moore Norman Technology Center will be sharing and recognizing our counselor perspectives through social media and celebrating them on campus. Parents or community members with specific questions about counseling programs and resources should visit the MNTC Counseling Services webpage. More general information about school counseling can also be found on ASCA’s website, www.schoolcounselor.org.
