Start your career in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration with our HVAC/R Evening Program. This program is made up of two required courses—HVAC/R I and HVAC/R II—designed to fit your schedule while providing real-world, hands-on training.
Together, the courses provide 500 hours of approved instruction, prepare you for OSHA and EPA certifications, and apply toward one year of the three-year apprenticeship requirement necessary to qualify to sit for the Mechanical Journeyman examination.
HVAC/R I introduces students to foundational electrical and heating principles used in the HVAC/R industry. Instruction includes electrical safety, basic circuitry, transformers, motors, controls, and gas and electric heating systems.
Students learn to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Hands-on lab training emphasizes troubleshooting and servicing HVAC equipment. Students prepare for OSHA safety certification.

This program is delivered in a blended format and requires reliable internet access for online coursework and homework assignments. Students are also required to participate in Essential Skills in the Workplace, held on the third Thursday of each month.
