This course prepares students to perform an assistive role to licensed nurses in acute care settings. Students learn advanced skills such as suture removal, sterile specimen collection, urinary catheterization, and venipuncture.

Through classroom instruction, extensive lab demonstrations, and clinical experience, this course prepares students to apply for AUA certification issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.

40 hours of clinical follows the scheduled class dates. (Certification/testing fees are an additional cost.)

*Must meet with an MNTC Career Advisor prior to enrollment to confirm reading prerequisite.

Prerequisite:

Must be at least 18 years of age
HS diploma or equivalent
Current certification by Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry as CNA -or- successful completion of a state approved CNA program -or- current employment as an acute care aide in a hospital
Next Gen Accuplacer Reading Score of 263, ACT score is 19 (minimum), SAT EBREW 470 -or- minimum of 12 hours college credit hours with GPA of at least 2.5
