Moore Norman Technology Center alumnus David Venard was posthumously honored with the National Technical Honor Society Star of Excellence Award this weekend at the 59th Annual Oklahoma Summit Awards Banquet. David is the son of Dr. Max Venard, a longtime member of the MNTC Board of Education.

David's life and career embodied the mission of Career and Technical Education and the values of the National Technical Honor Society. An Automotive Collision program completer at Moore Norman Technology Center and an NTHS inductee himself, David understood firsthand the life-changing impact of CTE. The experience fueled his passion for helping young adults discover their potential.

In his role as Automotive Collision instructor at Canadian Valley Technology Center in El Reno, David motivated students to pursue excellence through academic achievement, professionalism, and ethics. He built strong industry partnerships that created work-based learning experiences and career placements, and he helped found the #Adulting program, equipping students with essential life skills. Known for his compassion and generosity, he quietly served students, colleagues, and community without seeking recognition.

David's legacy lives on through the countless students he encouraged to believe in themselves. Following his unexpected passing in February 2026, his influence remains deeply felt by all he served so faithfully.
