Several Moore Norman Technology Center Programs Granted CAAHEP Accreditation.

January 16, 2025, Seminole, Florida – At its meeting on January 16, 2025, the Board of Directors of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) granted continuing accreditation to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Surgical Technology programs at Moore Norman Technology Center in Norman, Oklahoma. The CAAHEP Board acted upon the accreditation recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

Through the accreditation process, which includes a thorough review of the programs’ curriculum, resources, faculty and staff, as well as a site visit, the Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Surgical Technology programs at Moore Norman Technology Center were determined to be in substantial compliance with the nationally-approved Standards and Guidelines for educational programs. The CAAHEP standards by which these programs were measured have been developed primarily by sonography and surgical technology professionals, are approved by each profession, and are intended to reflect the required knowledge and skills that a person needs to be able to successfully function within the profession. CAAHEP Standards focus on quality outcomes, assuring that educational programs prepare competent sonography and surgical technology professionals.

“Providing quality assurance in health sciences and health professions education by setting standards for program accreditation and evaluating program performance is the mission of CAAHEP. As each individual program is reviewed, CAAHEP stays focused on each profession’s Standards and quality outcomes to assure that every CAAHEP accredited program is preparing students to be successful as they enter their chosen health care field,” said CAAHEP President Barry S. Eckert. “We congratulate Moore Norman Technology Center’s diagnostic medical sonography and surgical technology programs on achieving continuing CAAHEP accreditation.”

The MNTC Diagnostic Medical Sonography program specializes in the following concentrations: abdominal sonography-extended and obstetrics and gynecology sonography. The program is taught by highly qualified instructors, Heather Stacy and Chasity Clary.

Students in Surgical Technology experience all aspects of the operating room including robotics, managing a sterile environment, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. Instructors, Fallan Hammond and Julie Pennington, provide industry experience to prepare students with skills to succeed in the workplace.
