Sonographers use equipment that directs high frequency sound waves into a patient’s body. These waves reflect echoes and form an image that may be videotaped, transmitted, or photographed for diagnosis by a physician. During patient scans, technicians look for subtle clues that contrast healthy against unhealthy areas by taking measurements, calculating values, and analyzing the results into a preliminary finding report. The following college-level prerequisites must be completed with a “C” or better before you may submit an application:
*The Communications Skills requirement may be met by a variety of courses including English, Speech, or Composition.
Students are required to participate in MNTC-Diagnostic Medical Sonography clinical rotation sites based in Oklahoma City/Tulsa metropolitan area and outlying rural communities using their own transportation.
