MNTC Instructor Bridgette Cannon named 2016-17 Dental Assistant of the Year

The Oklahoma County Dental Assisting Society has named MNTC Dental Assisting Instructor Bridgette Cannon their 2016-17 Dental Assistant of the Year. The OCDAS annually recognizes a dental assistant who has shown dedication to continuing education, personal growth in the dental assisting profession, and a contribution of professional talent to the community.

Bridgette worked as a dental assistant for several dentists in the Moore and Norman areas before joining MNTC as an instructor in 1998. For nearly 20 years, Bridgette has dedicated her life to teaching MNTC students. “What I love most about teaching is when a student comes into the program with little or no self-esteem and through different things they do throughout the year, they start to see themselves how we see them. It is an incredible feeling!”

Bridgette has also been a key participant in the Give Kids a Smile program that provides 50 Norman Public School children dental care they might not receive otherwise. Norman Regional Health System, the Norman Regional Health Foundation, Norman Public Schools and MNTC partner on this valuable program.
