Dec. 5, 2018 – The Norman Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association has awarded two $250 scholarships to Moore Norman Technology Center Nurse Aide students. Winners are Norman North High School senior Belinda Campos and Norman High School junior Hannah Goodin.
Norman Charter Chapter ABWA representative Vivian Gibson said, “It gives us great pride to assist the students, knowing that in some small way we are helping to better their lives. We hope that the scholarship would help them to achieve their goal by giving them some financial assistance.”
The Norman Charter Chapter of ABWA has provided scholarships for continuing education for more than 40 years and has had a long-standing partnership helping students in-need from MNTC.
“Earning this scholarship means so much to me. It shows that I’m achieving what I had hoped to do this year and that I’m on the right path,” said Campos. After she finishes the Nurse Aide program Campos wants to continue her training and education in nursing through either the MNTC Practical Nurse program or attend Oklahoma City Community College and work toward an RN degree.
Goodin said, “This scholarship is so encouraging and pushes me to keep trying to reach all of the goals I have for myself.” Goodin looks to enroll in MNTC’s Pre-Nursing program next year as senior and work toward earning an Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) certification.
By the spring semester Campos and Goodin will be prepared to take the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and Long-Term Care Nurse Assistant/Home Health Assistant (LTC/HHA) certifications.
MNTC Nurse Aide Instructor Angelia Goss said, “These young ladies are so deserving of these awards. They have so much integrity and are proving to themselves what they’re capable of and how far they can go. I’m so proud of them both.”
